.:Look:. John has dark brown hair, although it does seem to look black at certain moments, especially when the winter months roll around. It is usually never styled, unless you count the just-rolled-out-of-bed look. It sticks up in odd angles most days, although he does have the decency to smooth it down. Afterall he needs to keep up appearances. No one wants to look like a commoner, especially not a Prince. John’s eyes match that of his mother’s, the icy blue melding with a softer, calmer blue creating the perfect shade. A lot of people can find themselves lost in not only the mesmerizing colour, but the display of turbulent emotions running through them. Eyes are windows to the souls some say, although he’ll be the first to deny ever thinking that. John inherited his father's strong bone structure, from his high cheek bones to his chiseled chin and his once broken nose, something which was broken during his younger years. Standing six feet and four inches, one hundred and sixty pounds. He's the man towering over people with the menacing stare. John is usually covered with finest materials, only the best and those made specifically for him and those of the royal family.

.:Basic Personality:. John is very cocky to the point of arrogance. To say he has an ego would be an understatement. He has no problem with showing off skills of any kind, or bragging about nearly anything. He comes across as the best of the best, as if he really does think he's better than everyone else and so he is. Unfortunately for people who find this annoying, he seems to be one of those guys who's good at everything, even stuff he's never tried before. He has that sort of 'perfect' persona going on for him, as if there couldn't be a single thing wrong with him, and he certainly seems to think there's not.
He shows absolutely zero respect for everyone. Along with this comes the fact that he is not afraid to challenge someone on something, whether it be verbally or physically. He has a knack for getting himself into troublesome situations, most of which he has an uncanny ability to get himself out of. When he needs to be, he can be quite charming and manipulative. Like the fact that he seems to be good at everything, he always seems to get what he wants.
He is very good at lying, seemingly able to convince almost anyone of anything if he puts enough thought into it. He's very good at coming up with reasons and explanations on the spot, and spinning stories without a flaw to be exploited. Speaking of exploiting, he has absolutely no problem with taking advantage of someone, something, or a situation. Everything seems to be a means to an end with him, as long as he gets what he's after in the end. Often times, because of his personality, he appears to not have much of a conscience, of which he really doesn't.

.:Birthplace:. Nottingham Castle.
.:Family:.
Henry II; Father.
Eleanor of Aquitaine; Mother.
Richard; Brother.
Henry; Brother.
Geoffrey; Brother.
Joanna; Sister.
.:History:. John was born to Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine on 24 December 1166. Shortly after his birth, John was passed from Eleanor into the care of a wet nurse, a traditional practice for noble families. His mother then left for Poitiers, sending John and his sister Joan to Fontevrault Abbey. This may had been done with the aim of steering John, as her youngest son without an obvious inheritance, towards a future ecclesiastical career. Eleanor then spent the next few years conspiring against her husband Henry and neither parent played a part in John’s very early life. John was, like his brothers, assigned a magister whilst he was at Fontevrault; John was also later taught by a leading English administrator. John also spent some time as a member of his brother Henry the Young King's household, receiving instruction in hunting and military skills.
During John's early years, his father attempted to resolve the question of his succession. John's brother, Henry, had been crowned King of England in 1170, but without being given any formal powers by his father; at this time it seemed unlikely that John would ever inherit substantial lands and John was jokingly nicknamed "Lackland" by his father.
In 1173 John’s elder brothers, backed by his mother, rose in revolt against Henry in the short-lived rebellion of 1173 to 1174. Henry had grown irritated with his subordinate position to his father, Henry II and increasingly worried that John might be given additional lands and castles at his expense.
John had spent the conflict traveling alongside his father and was given widespread possessions across the Angevin empire as part of the Montlouis settlement; from then onwards, most regarded John as Henry II’s favorite child, although still the furthest removed in terms of the royal succession. His father began to find more lands for John, mostly at various nobles' expense. In 1175 he rather questionably appropriated the estates of the late Earl of Cornwall and gave them to John. The following year, Henry disinherited the sisters of Isabelle of Gloucester and betrothed John to the - now extremely wealthy - Isabelle, again contrary to legal custom. In 1177, at the Council of Oxford, Henry dismissed William FitzAldelm as the Lord of Ireland and replaced him with the ten year old John instead.
The problems amongst John's wider family continued to grow. His elder brother Geoffrey died during a tournament in 1186, leaving only a young son, Arthur. This meant that John could not be granted the duchy of Brittany, which would need to be given to Arthur, but did bring John slightly closer to the throne of England. The uncertainty about what would happen after Henry's death continued to grow; Richard was keen to join a new crusade and remained concerned that whilst he was away Henry would appoint John his formal successor. Richard and Philip fought a joint campaign against Henry, and by the summer of 1189 the king made peace, promising Richard the succession. John initially remained loyal to his father, but changed sides once it appeared that Richard would win. His father, Henry died shortly afterwards.
John's elder brother, Richard, became king in September 1189, John was made the count of Mortain, finally married to the wealthy Isabel of Gloucester, given valuable lands in Lancaster and the counties of Cornwall, Derby, Devon, Dorset, Nottingham and Somerset, all with the aim of buying his loyalty to Richard whilst the king was on crusade. Richard was careful, though, to retain royal control of the key castles in these counties, thereby preventing John from accumulating too much military and political power. In return, John promised not to visit England for the next three years, thereby in theory giving Richard adequate time to conduct a successful crusade and return from the Levant, without fear of John seizing power.
How foolish. John managed to explore the possibilities of becoming the alternative ruler in Richard's absence. This, however, proved to make the Prince unpopular. Not that he minded in the slightest. Upon his brother's kidnap, there was no other choice but to appoint the younger brother as ruler of Nottingham. For the people of the town, this didn't sit well. It was a known fact that the Prince was not a kind man, but a cruel and greedy one, who had every intention to only increase his power.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
