Things were going remarkably well for the second in command, Sir Guy of Gysbourne. Second in Command. Oh how he loved the sound of that. Though he was the son of a noble, wealthy by nature, this was a whole new level of authority and power for him. He was the Sheriff's right hand man. The one who had the liberty to do what he pleased, to carry out his orders however he saw fit. And no one, not a single towns person could say anything against it. Things could not have been going better for him. With the Sheriff accumulating wealth, Gysbourne's money went up to. That, and he really did enjoy the power he could demand from others. Yes. Life was good for Sir Gysbourne indeed.
It was late at night and he had just returned to the castle grounds, having been making rounds throughout the town, ensuring everything was in check. It really was not something he technically needed to do, for there were those lower than him that could be delegated for such tasks. But this gave him an excuse to somewhat terrorize the people and continue to establish his reputation among them and such a thing would be an opportunity he would never pass by. The Sheriff's rule was going well. So long as they continued to establish their control through setting fear out among the people of Nottingham, all would be well. So with such content, Gysbourne walked down the halls, heading towards his chambers.
[ Tag Robin. I just left it short and vague so that you can make your grand entrance. ]

Robert was dead tired. So dead tired that all he wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep for a week or a month. He wanted ENGLISH food, and ENGLISH girls, and ENGLISH bed and ENGLISH soil and everything from dear old England! He was so damn tired of the Holy lands, and their food, and they beds, and their wars, and their sand! (Not so tired of their girls, however). What he arrived home to however was not the heroes welcome he expected.
Everything was dark, and dusty. It was barren, and there were no signs of life anywhere in it. Robert walked around attempting to see some sign that this was the wrong house but found only the dark and dust. What the bloody hell was going on?! Leaving the house, he went to mount his horse and turn to ride to the castle and find his parents and sister but along the way passed by a farmer out smoking his horrid smelling pipe. What the hell was in that thing? "You there, farmer. Were is the Lord of Huntingdon and his family?" The reply was not one that warmed him, but chilled him. It would be the words that changed his fate, even if he did nto know it yet. 'Earl's dead! Gysbourne owns the lands now.'
The man had spoken with a slight tone of fear in his voice but Robert could care less. His father was dead and Gysie had let THIS happen to his home?! Robert did not even thank the man but spurned his horse off to ride to the castle to be reunited with his mother; and after an hour of conversation he was only left tired and bitterly angry.
That was how Robert ended up waiting for Gysie in his room; with his bow and an arrow posed for flight. When the door opened, Robert let his arrow fire so it would land embedded into the wood making the frame four or five inches from how target's head. He gave a pause while pulling another arrow out before speaking, know that he at lest at the man's attention. "I missed you." He spoke with double meaning, "Don't worry, I wont make that mistake again."

As soon as Gysbourne opened the door, he was greeted by something rather unexpected. Something alarming. Something . . . no, someone. He did not have time to react to the arrow, and as soon as he saw the man who had shot it, he did not even reach for his sword. He stood there, staring at him. He should have expected this sooner or later. Wait. No he should not have! He broke into his chambers. Wait, before that, when did Robert return to Nottingham? Ah well. He must have been here long enough to know how now had ownership of his lands. Him. Yes. Sir Guy of Gysbourne, bitter nemesis of this man since he was a child. At least on Guy's part. Robert seemed to have just enjoyed eliciting a reaction from him. Much like right now.
A slow smirk crept on his lips once the surprise of the arrow fully subsided. Of course Gysbourne was well aware of the man's skill. Had he wished to kill him, he would not have missed. But he was not intimidated. He enjoyed provoking people, and this would be the most entertaining person to provoke. Though, admittedly, it would be far easier if he did not have a crossbow aimed directly at his head. "Robert," he greeted in an exaggerated friendliness. "Now when did you return to Nottingham?" It was a rhetorical question for Guy really did not care. The point was, he had returned.
He turned his head, looking upwards at the arrow and then back at the intruder. "I could have you executed for that. Don't you who I am?" He paused for a moment, having a mocking tone in the way he asked the question for he was not the same Gysbourne that had last had the 'pleasure' of being in Robert's company. "Oh that's right, you do not." Again, sarcasm, for the realization had been there all along. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Sir Guy of Gysbourne, the Sheriff's second in command." Someone with far more status than him, for right now, he had no estate, no land, and no father . . . all thanks to Guy.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Sir Guy of Gysbourne, the Sheriff's second in command. As Gysie finished his words, Robert let another arrow out with this one aimed right at his head. Unless Gys ducked, it would land in the wood behind him[ only missing his cheek by a half inch or even less. "I know I have been out of the world for a spell, but the last time I read my English law they did not execute noblemen unless they actually killed someone." Or committed treason, or disobeyed the King.
Robert picked another arrow out of his pack that was bound to his back before using the sharp tip to scratch the side of his neck; while casually glaring at his former childhood companion. As his father had died quite unexpectedly, Robert was now the Earl of Huntingdon and a hero returned from the Holy lands. A knight under the King. He was not afraid of the local sheriff, while he had the king's ear.

Gysbourne's reflexes were not totally shot, for he did manage to quickly duck just in the nick of time, feeling the breeze of the rapid arrow. But now surely, Robert would have expected him to do that. He decided that it would not be best to just stand there like a target, and so walked over to one of his side tables and proceeded to take off his gloves, one at a time, acting very nonchalant about this whole thing, when inside, really, he was rather agitated that Robert had managed to get past the guards and what, come here through his window?! Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. This type of behavior would no longer be accepted -- not that it ever was -- nor would it be tolerated.
Yet, Guy continued to smirk, speaking before turning to face him. "Breaking and entering and attempted murder, that is more than enough to arrest you for." He now looked at him, focusing his attention on Robert as he still held the crossbow. How Guy wished he would put the damn thing down already. "Times are changing Robert. Nottingham is not what it was before you left." They were getting better. Far better. As the Sheriff climbed into power, so did Gysbourne. He wished to see Robert's downfall for that would be the most satisfying of all. It was after all why he had murdered his father in the first place.
Now, it was time to gloat even more. "So where will you go now Robert, since I have ownership of your estate. If that is why you are here, to seek shelter then all you need to is ask. I would make an exception for an old friend." He knew he could probably find elsewhere, but still. While Robert was no friend of his, how incredible it felt to be above him right now. He had been waiting for this moment since, and the only thing that would have made it more perfect, was it Robert had no weapon on him. And did not break in his chambers. And well, did not act so annoyingly calm.

"Gysie, your being boring." Robert told him while spinning the arrow between his fingers. "You might have taken care of them while I was gone but the true owner and Earl is home now. My lands are mine and so is the money you have stolen from it." Money he would give back or take out from Guy's skin; and each little bit of skin that he removed would be in the size and shape of another coin the bastard owed him.
Robert took hold of the end of the arrow and scratched him arm out so the tip of the arrow could just reach a bit of glass something that sat on a table. He used the tip of the said arrow to scoot the glass closer and closer to the edge of the desk or table thing before suddenly it-- "oops!" -- went right over the edge. Robert even said oops, before it fell so that Gysie would know that it wasn't a real oops. "You shouldn't leave things so close to the edge; it's a shame when they fall off."
Robert just did it to annoy him. He knew that Guy was a bit material type and that ruining his things would only serve to annoy him. Right now, Robert held the power. He was a Lord of the realm and a returning war hero, sheriff's bitch or no sheriff; the law was on his side.

Gysie. really? Really?! What a horrible word to be called. Not only did Robert fail to address him with his proper title, but he was shortening his name? What a fool. He still did not seem to realize who he was speaking to. Guy had fully believed in the eternal control the Sheriff would soon have over Nottingham, and once he had it, the first thing Guy wanted to do was throw Robert in the dungeon to teach him a lesson. Of course, it was more easily mentally plotted rather than brought to reality. But still. It was a good goal to work towards. Especially since he knew that Robert was right. He would most likely be able to reclaim his lands. but that did not mean Guy would give up. Nor acknowledge the fact that he was right. He had gotten rid of one earl, now he just had his blasted son to eliminate.
Before he found the right, perfect bragging words to say, his eyes slightly narrowed when Robert began knocking things, breaking them. Damn him! How did he always seem to know what to do to annoy him?! Well, two could play at his game. Though even personal satisfaction would not repair that priceless vase. It was an antique! Clearly the fool in front of him did not realize how much it was worth. Not wait; that was just it . . . he did realize how much it was worth. Damn Robert, earl of Huntingdon. He tried not to look at the broken pieces on the ground, knowing that even a piece of that broken glass was worth more than Robert's life.
Instead, he took a silent deep breath appearing to shrug it off though it would bother him. He kept his demeanor calm and casual, for it would only add more to what he was about to say. "Now was there anything else I can help you with? If not then please do show yourself out." He stated, as if he really cared. As if the man had come here for some greater purpose, other than to shoot arrows at his face. "I am expecting your sister to come to my chambers at any moment now." Truth be told, he was not. But the fact that his sister and mother were now staying here, and the fact that he had said he called for her, at this hour of the night . . . well, it did not take a genius to guess the implications behind his words.

If looks could kill then the ice glare that Robert shot him would have done it slow and painfully. Did the bastard really just bring his sister into this? His little sister better stay far from him if she knew what was good for her. Robert did not think she would have dared take up with a man not her husband so clearly Guy was just trying to ruin the reputation of an innocent little girl! Taking his arrow and lacing it in the bow Robert took aim, and fired again. This time, making sure to come close enough to at lest pin Gysie's shirt to the wall behind him, if not take a bit of skin with it. "I will see you tomorrow, when you will be letting every claim to my lands go and returning everything you stole from it."
With that Robert turned to walk to the door, not caring that he was giving his back to Guy. It was meant to be a sign that he was not afraid of the man; for it was easiest to attack when one's victim's back was displayed. Once there, he turned to look back at him before slowing him a kiss and leaving; ignoring anything that Guy might had tossed out at him.
Once he left Guy's room, Robert return to his mother so he could find out about his sister for sure; and then his next stop was to drag the sheriff of Nottingham out of his bed! By morning, Robert had no sleep; but things were moving along for his lands to be returned. Just not the money!! Which meant that he would have to seek out Gysie again.
